"Another Florida?"
With only a few days to go before the election, the outcome is still up in the air and all the candidates are tense. No one knows yet who will win, so these final days are perhaps the most important and certainly the most decisive.
Since it looks like it could be a tight race, there is a very real possibility that no candidate will win a clear majority (50%+1). According to the Student Council Constitution, which Alan has read completely many times, if no candidate wins a majority of the votes, a run-off election must be held between the two leading candidates.
In a recent meeting, Mr. Bollinger, the Principal, stated that a run-off election, if it is necessary, will probably be held Thursday, since absentees vote Wednesday and the ballots may only be counted after absentees have cast their votes.
A while ago, Alan and Phil expressed concern over how and by whom the votes shall be counted. As a result of these concerns, Mr. Bollinger promised that there will be a "neutral observer" monitering the vote counting to ensure that this election does not become "another Florida."

Survey Says...
In election news, a recent poll of MASH students shows Alan Kennedy-Shaffer currently in the lead by a slim margin. Supporters of Alan's campaign were delighted by the news.
The poll also shows that students are in favor of an open lunch and refreshments at dances, both parts of Alan's platform, by a vast majority.
